Experts and practitioners gathered in Stockholm, Sweden, on 19 June to discuss the results of GWP-commissioned research on gender equality and inclusion in water management. The aim was to lay the groundwork for broader change and bring about practical steps to action.
On 16 January 2018, India Water Partnership (IWP) in collaboration with TARU Leading Edge kick-started constructing rainwater harvesting (RWH) tanks with a demo project, at the Senior Secondary Government School in Village Garhi Harsaru, Gurgaon.
A Gambia CWP team including the Chairperson, the Executive Secretary, the National IWRM Focal point and the GWP-WA Technical Committee member met with the Hon. The second Country Consultation Meeting between Bangladesh and Myanmar under Learning Deltas Asia Initiative (LDAI) was held at Irrigation and Water Utilisation Management Department (IWUMD) Conference Hall, Yangon from 1 to 4 June 2017 together with a field visit to Ayeyarwady Delta in Myanmar.
Gender mainstreaming is about identifying gender gaps and making the concerns and priorities of women’s, men’s, girls’ and boys’ integral to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes so that developmental benefits are relevant, and are shared equally.

On 19 November, marking World Toilet Day 2018, GWP invited Kanika Thakar, founder of #ToiletTalk, to a Facebook Live interview. She talked about her passion to change the way the world values and talks about toilets. “How can you solve a problem if we can't even talk about it?” she asks. Kanika says her aim is to break down the taboos surrounding toilets.
The Volta Basin Authority (VBA), Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP - WA) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) organized the regional training workshop on Integrated Flood Management (IFM), Preparation and Financing of IFM projects from 20th to 24th November 2017.
