Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security – a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)

GWP, GEF IW:Learn and Partners have opened a MOOC on “Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security.” The aim is to bring together countries that share freshwater resources – giving them the skills to cooperate so that the shared resource is managed sustainably for the benefit of each country’s population. The self-paced MOOC is available on the SDG Academy platform - it is free and open to everyone - but especially designed for professionals who manage and make decisions about transboundary waters in ministries and river basin organisations, as well as young professionals and future leaders in transboundary waters, including undergraduate and graduate students.

Consultancy: Development of Bankable Investment Portfolio for Financing Climate Change Projects in the Dominican Republic

The Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are a powerful framework for laying out priorities for national climate action, with the potential to guide priorities such as building climate resilience and climate-resilient infrastructure. They can be developed into country-level strategies and/or approaches for mobilising finance for climate resilient infrastructure programmes and projects and for enhancing the necessary policy and regulatory frameworks. The first window of opportunity ahead is the submission of new or updated NDCs in 2020.

Connecting Climate and Development through Water

Madrid, Spain – At a high-level event on December 7 here at the global climate conference, Global Water Partnership (GWP) will launch a report identifying major opportunities for water management to accelerate climate action and sustainable development.

Regional dialogue: GWP-WA and partners mobilize to accelerate IWRM progress towards achieving water related SDGs in West Africa

On 25 September 2019, the regional dialogue on the theme "Accelerating progress in IWRM implementation to achieve water-related SDGs in West Africa: challenges, innovative approaches and the roles of partnerships" took place in Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso. The regional dialogue was organized by Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso, the ECOWAS Water Resources Management Centre and the West African Monetary and Economic Union (UEMOA)’s Commission in charge of Agriculture Water Resources and Environment.

Training Journalists in Environmental Reporting

Journalists from Albania, Greece, Kosovo* and Montenegro attended a 2-day training** event in Lake Ohrid, in North Macedonia, to develop their capacities in environmental and water reporting, and learn about the 200.000 USD Lake Ohrid Pilot Activity under the GEF Drin Project.
