Strategic investments and strengthening of multi-stakeholder partnership are key to progressing towards water security, says Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) Partners.
The Masungi Georeserve was announced winners of the Water ChangeMaker Awards in a ceremony at the Climate Adaptation Summit on 25 January. The water and sanitation sector stakeholders met on 28 and 29 June 2019 in Cotonou for the traditional sector review. Stakeholders shared and exchanged on progress but also reflected on major concerns in order to ensure sustainable access to water and sanitation for the population.

The vision of the GWP-CAf is for of a "Central Africa where water security is assured". Our mission is to "support sustainable development through the promotion and implementation of integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Central Africa".
Using the key IWRM challenges identified in Stage 1, the aim of this stage is to facilitate a government-led multi-stakeholder process to formulate and prioritise appropriate responses to those challenges. The result of Stage 2 is typically an IWRM Action Plan (the name might be adapted for each country), which includes a series of attractive investment opportunities to systematically guide the implementation of solutions to IWRM challenges.
Dr Adrien Coly, Chair of the Country Water Partnership of Senegal received Mr Ndour Niokhor, Director of Water Resources Management and Planning (DGPRE) of Senegal on Wednesday 13 May 2020 for a working meeting.
The Niger Basin Authority (NBA) organized from 13 to 15 April 2021 a regional workshop to set up a functional platform for the W transboundary biosphere reserve as part of its support to promote and implement an ecosystem-based approach and IWRM practices through better coordination of interventions related to the complex between the three riparian countries, Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger. The event was held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
