In the implementation process of the Multi Year Programme 4 (MYP), the Benin Country Water Partnership (CWP) and its partner, the Belgian NGO PROTOS welcome in Cotonou from 19 to 23 March a team of experts led by Jan Walravens of International Marine and Dredging Consultants (IMDC).
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Central and West Africa Programme held the steering committee meeting of its programme Partnership for environmental governance in West Africa (PAGE) on 16 February 2018 in Ouagadougou.
After a meeting held with the new Technical Committee (TC) chair in November in Ouagadougou, a larger meeting with the Chair, all Technical Committee members and the staff of the Executive Secretariat was organized in Bamako on 13 to 15 December 2017. The meeting served as a platform for GWP-WA TC members to engage with the Chair and Executive Secretariat on how to work together to advance GWP work at the regional level and in countries in West Africa.
A Regional Workshop for the Validation of the Draft ECOWAS Directive on Shared Water Resources Management in West Africa, held on 2 and 3 May 2017 in Dakar, under the chairmanship of Mr. Diène FAYE, Secretary of State in charge of Hydraulics of Senegal.
From 26th – 28th June 2018, meetings were held at WRC to review the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Tool for the water resources sub-sector to include climate change.
On 26 June, GWP Poland organized a seminar Inland navigation from European perspective, which was held at the Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology.
On Friday 27 July, the team in charge of developing the national drought plan for Burkina Faso met with the CWP-Burkina Faso Executive Secretariat Team to discuss the participation of the Integrated Drought Management platform set up by the CWP Burkina Faso under IDMP- West Africa in the process.
The celebration of World Wetlands Day (WWD) on February 13th, 2019, marked the launch of GEMWET, a MAVA foundation funded project aiming to the conservation and sustainable development of high ecological value of the lagoon of Ghar El Melh in the Governorate of Bizerte in the North of Tunisia.
