On 29-30 November 2018, GWPEA organized a media field visit for selected media outlets/practicing journalists drawn from seven media houses to explore further the aspects of drought risk management in Mubende, Uganda and develop stories to be aired in Uganda as well as potential case studies.
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat, with support from Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA), is convening a Regional Workshop on the Regional Water Energy Food (WEF) Nexus Framework and testing the SADC WEF Nexus Investment Project Screening Tool. Professor Amadou Hama MAIGA was one of the presenters during the 19th Congress of the African Water Association (AfWA) held in Bamako from 11 to 16 February 2018. “Sanitation and Integrated Water Resources Management -IWRM” was the topic of the communication made by GWP WA chair.

SDGs refer to a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years (2016-2030). GWP China focuses on SDG#6, the Energy Foundation on SDG#7, and WRI on SDG#2, which makes three lead players integrating the goals from a multilateral aspect.
GWP China’s host institution, the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), celebrated its 60th anniversary with a week of academic sessions in Beijing, China. On 18 October, an international high-level forum was held on the topic of Modern Water Governance and Technological Innovation. Around 1000 guests were invited, including GWP representatives from its worldwide network.
