The 48th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting will take place on 23-26 January 2018 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. More than 2,500 participants from over 100 countries will participate in over 400 sessions.
On Thursday, September 27th, 2018, the entire GWP Network will embark on its first-ever “Follow-the-Sun” GWP Network Meeting. Partners from 46 countries will go LIVE from all corners of the world.
Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA), in collaboration with the Permanent Secretariat of IWRM Plan (SP PANGIRE) of Niger and the Country Water Partnership of Niger (CWP-Niger), submitted to the Delegation of the European Union (DEU) in Niamey a request for financing of the Project "Water for growth and poverty reduction in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger" (Mekrou Project 2 - Niger).
The aim of Stage 1 of the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme is to strengthen IWRM monitoring and reporting nationally, in order to identify critical areas for attention.
Michèle Okala coordinates the work of RECOJAC – the Network of Water and Climate Organisations of Central African Youth. She is one of the founding members and she is also in charge of youth issues for GWP Central Africa. Michèle has been volunteering for over 8 years, and she shares some insights to what she has learned – and what she hopes to leave as her legacy: “I created RECOJAC for the generation that will come after me. The September Assembly of Partners has renewed the organs by designed a new chair for GWP WA, a new executive secretary and also a new chair for regional technical committee. The two first had already met the staff and the turn was to the new RTEC chair, Dr. BARRY Boubacar on 18 November 2017.
Upon the request of the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP) and with finding from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan and the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) Japan, Global Water Partnership (GWP) organised a consultation on the proposed HELP Principles of Investments and Financing for water-related disaster risk reduction in the Southern African region.
From 29 to 31 October 2019, the city of Cotonou in Benin hosted the National Forum on Integrity in the Water and Sanitation Sector. "Integrity in the water and sanitation sector: pillar for the rights to water and sanitation" is the theme of the forum that aims to promote integrity in the water and sanitation sector in Benin in bringing it it the national agenda.
