On November 1, 2018, GWP China was invited to the high-end seminar on Sustainable Urban Water Management under Climate Adaptation, co-sponsored by the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and the World Resources Institute (WRI), in Beijing.

After a meeting held with the new Technical Committee (TC) chair in November in Ouagadougou, a larger meeting with the Chair, all Technical Committee members and the staff of the Executive Secretariat was organized in Bamako on 13 to 15 December 2017. In order to be able to achieve the long-term goal of the programme, it is necessary to fully understand the economics of water in a country, river basin or region under consideration. Without this knowledge it is impossible to determine the value of proposed investments or their related costs and benefits. Therefore, it is unlikely that it will be possible to package the required finance for the investment.
