Since 1974, World Environment Day has been celebrated every year on 5 June; engaging governments, businesses, celebrities and citizens to focus their efforts on a pressing environmental issue.
In a long-anticipated event, the UN’s High Level Political Forum (HLPF) met in New York in July, to review progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, including, for the first time, the one dedicated to water, SDG 6. The partners of the Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Côte d’Ivoire held an Assembly on 26 July, which elected Dr. KOFFI Bruno as the new chair person. Dr. KOFFI Bruno is taking over Mr. NDRI Koffi as the chair of the CWP.
The transboundary issue is key in water resources management in Africa and mostly in West Africa where all countries except the Island of Cape Verde share at least one river with at least another country. The region has 22 major transboundary river basins, and six established transboundary river basin authorities to contribute to strengthen transboundary cooperation.
