The #TonfuturTonClimate project in Benin is giving young people the opportunity to participate in the implementation of adaptation projects in the agricultural and forestry sectors, which are strongly affected by climate change, in order to make them actors of change to address climate change issues.

GWP Hungary’s Chair, Dr. József Gayer was elected a member of the Global Water Partnership Steering Committee, starting his term in December 2018.

The Global Water Partnership-Nigeria team were in the National Assembly to pay an advocacy visit on the Senate Committee Chairman on Water Resources, Sen. Uballi Shittu and the House Committee Chairman on Water Resources, Hon. Aliyu Pategi. Due to the strategic importance of the meeting, Sen. Uballi Shittu sought the approval of the Senate Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawal to be part of the meeting. The advocacy visit is aimed at sensitizing the National Assembly on the activities of GWP and also plead for the accelerated passage of the National Water Resources Bill.

GWP WA is a member of the UNEP-DHI/GWP-WA consortium in charge of the mission to support the establishment of the ECOWAS Regional Water Observatory. A workshop was held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on 4 & 5 September 2018 with country focal points on data collection.

ECOWAS Water Resources Coordination Center organized a meeting in Lomé, Togo from 25-27 October 2017 to present, discuss and validate the 63 IWRM indicators of ECOWAS and the 40 indicators of AMCOW.

The West African Economic Monetary Union (WAEMU) held on 17 to 19 December 2018 a workshop in Ouagadougou to validate a study on the status of IWRM implementation in its eight (8) member states.
