World Water Day (WWD) is commemorated on 22 March every year. This year’s theme was “Leaving no one behind”. GWP and its Partners worldwide supported the theme by arranging a wide range of activities. GWP has leveraged its stakeholder network to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reporting process in 30 countries. Together with UN Environment-DHI, the custodian agency of SDG 6.5.1, GWP is convening 30 workshops to collect the official country data for 6.5.1. (Integrated Water Resources Management, IWRM).
Recent droughts and floods in Southern Africa region have served as a reminder that a silo approach to planning and investing in water security is no longer suitable due to changing climate and pressure on natural resources.

The national workshop to review the draft Water Charter of the Volta Basin was held on 24 and 25 July 2018 in Ziniaré under the chairmanship of Mr. TRAORE Serge, Director General of Water Resources (DGRE) of the Ministry of Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso.
The IWRM ToolBox is an online database about integrated water resources management (IWRM). With the launch of the new GWP website in March, the ToolBox became an integrated part of the website (“LEARN”). We present new tutorials to assist both new and returning visitors.
