On June 5, 2018, on the occasion of the World Environment Day, “the Forum on Youth Volunteering & Aids on River Prevention” was organised in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. This city locates within the Pearl River Delta, bordering Hong Kong to the south, spreading over nine municipalities (including Macau). It makes up part of the Pearl Delta River built-up area including 160+ rivers or channels with 447 million inhabitants reaching urbanisation up to 95%.
The Gambia is yet to ratify the UN97 Transboundary Watercourses Convention. The former National Assembly members were sensitized and mobilized on the bill. There is the need to sensitize and mobilise the new Assembly Members on the UN97 Convention, the Gambia Water Bill, the National Water Resources Management Authority Bill and the Gambia Metrological Authority Bills respectively.
From 23rd to 24th May 2019, the Core Team of the Task Force for SDG6 IWRM Action Plan preparation met at the conference room of the Water Resources Commission to finalise the Action Plan and initiate drafting of the related Action Sheets.
The GWP network used the 8th World Water Forum, the world's largest water-related event, to demonstrate the impact of its multi-stakeholder partnership on improving the way the world manages its water resources. GWP was involved in over 40 events during the week and many network Partners were present, as well as representatives of the global office and the GWP regions.
To effectively and efficiently support GWP Central Africa and its partners in implementing the Gender Equality in Water Security and Climate Resilient Development Programme (WACDEP-G) in Central Africa, as well as in mainstreaming gender in its work, GWP-CAf is recruiting a full time Gender and Water Advisor who will work with the GWP-CAf regional secretariat in Yaoundé.
