GEF/UNDP/GWP-Med project 'Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the extended Drin River Basin' (GEF Drin Project) is making forces to raise public awareness about the natural wealth and legacy of the Drin River Basin on the occasion of Drin Day 2018.
The Project Preparation Partnership for Climate Resilient GCF Water Projects is an Africa-wide coalition of Direct Access Entities and National Designated Authorities from countries; African sub-regional accredited entities to the GCF; regional institutions; climate and development financiers; the private sector and other entities working together to enable countries to access the support they need to prepare and implement climate resilient water projects
Southern Africa Development Committee (SADC) and River Basin Organisations (RBO) in the region must create an enabling policy environment that supports harmonised approaches and implementation of joint water quality programmes.

On June 5, 2018, on the occasion of the World Environment Day, “the Forum on Youth Volunteering & Aids on River Prevention” was organised in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. This city locates within the Pearl River Delta, bordering Hong Kong to the south, spreading over nine municipalities (including Macau). It makes up part of the Pearl Delta River built-up area including 160+ rivers or channels with 447 million inhabitants reaching urbanisation up to 95%.
A two-day WACDEP workshop was held on 19-20 February 2018 in Ouagadougou to facilitate the implementation process of the Programme to achieve the expected results at regional level and in the beneficiary countries.
The AIP comprises 6 components aimed at supporting the outcomes of the two-year tenure of the HLPW, relating to creating jobs, promoting industrialisation, and unlocking inclusive, sustainable climate-resilient development and achievement of SDG 6 targets through water security investments that work towards attainment of universal access to safe water and safely managed sanitation across Africa.
