In the night of Wednesday 16 to Thursday 17 May, a drama occurred in Lake Toho in Kpinou, in the commune of Athiémé /Departement of Mono, South-West Benin. Lifeless fish floated to the surface of the lake. The authorities of the sectoral ministries, in turn, went down to the site to observe the damage. Thousands of dead fish lay on the ground of a fish farm developer in Kpinnou.
GWP co-organised the recent World Meteorological Organization (WMO) HydroConference – the Global Conference for Prosperity through Hydrological Services – in Geneva, Switzerland. The event set out to create better interfaces between the providers of hydrological services and the users who need such services for a wide range of decision-making.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated on 11 February - it is implemented by UNESCO and UN-Women, in collaboration with institutions and civil society partners. The day aligns with GWP's Gender Strategy, which addresses diversity and inclusion, social equity, and women's role in the integrated and sustainable management of water resources.
In March 2019, GWPEA continued with national consultation workshops with key stakeholders who will be involved in the implementation of the project titled “Strengthening Drought Resilience of Small Holder Farmers and Pastoralists in the IGAD region”- DRESS EA.
On 22 February, the CWP leaders met to discuss preparations for the visit of the regional delegation from 25 February to 1 March. This visit is meant to support CWP Guinea in strengthening its visibility and together make efforts to set up initiatives to support the promotion of IWRM.
