Floods are a recurrent natural calamity in Pakistan, followed by earthquakes, cyclones and drought. However, drought is more damaging than floods in terms of food insecurity. Evidence of chronic water shortages have been painfully evident in some parts of Pakistan in recent years, due to low rainfall and extreme variations in temperature.

13 October marks the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. The day is centered around the seven targets of the Sendai Framework, and this year focuses on Target D: reduce disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of basic services. According to the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) floods are the most common natural disaster with the largest impacts on society. Created in 2008 in Bangui, the CAR Country Water Partnership's mission is to support the government in the sustainable management of water resources through the adoption of IWRM principles. It brings together all the actors in the water sector, organised in groups of actors, who subscribe to the management and working principles promoted by the GWP network.

India Water Partnership (IWP) in collaboration with Nirmal Hindon Initiative, 2030 Water Resources Group, WAPCOS Ltd. and Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritag’s (INTACH’s) Natural Heritage Division organised a Technical Workshop on knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building of Stakeholders for Preparing the Road Map for Collective Action for Hindon River Rejuvenation on 9 June 2018 at the Office of Commissioner, Meerut Division (Uttar Pradesh).

In May 2019, at the invitation of the Chairs of the “National Focal Structures” for Cameroon and Congo, GWP CAf participated in the national stakeholder workshop to present and discuss the multi-sectoral diagnostic report in Congo (23rd – 24th May) and in Cameroon (27th – 28th May) in Brazzaville and Yaoundé respectively.

While some countries continue to treat climate change as a hoax, the Zambian government has called on the international community to accept the view by scientists that unless world governments act quickly, planet earth faces the real risk of endangering all life forms by 2030.
