Before the International Children’s Day (June 1st), 15 teams of 13-19-year-old young people convened in Nanjing of Jiangsu Province to share their inventions with experts and the public and to realize their innovative solutions to improve water and environment in and around their schools at the Junior Water Prize (JWP) Final.
The GWP in Action 2016 Annual Report is now available online. It highlights many of the network’s activities achieved through 13 Regional Water Partnerships, 86 Country Water Partnerships, 3,427 Partners located in 183 countries, and generous donor agencies.
In June 2017, the Government of the Republic of South Africa, under the aegis of the High Level Panel on Water (HLPW) commissioned the Global Water Partnership (GWP) to develop a legacy initiative of the HLPW in Africa. In response, the Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP) was developed by GWP in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Development Programme Global Environment Facility (UNDP-GEF) and the HLPW Secretariat at the World Bank/UN.
The Malian Minister of Energy and Water, Malick Alhousseïni, presided over the opening ceremony of the Steering Committee of the Joint Water Resources Management Support Programme (PCA-GIRE) met on May 31st in Bamako. In Southeast Asia region as well as in other regions, the complexities of water challenges then urged the need to work together to achieve water secure world.
