GWP China Yangtze River was founded in December, 2018, to convene all members to promote the Water Law of the PRC in accordance with the Constitution of the PRC.

March 19 to 24, 2018, the 8th World Water Forum is organized in Brasilia, Brazil. The theme is "Sharing Water".

For the past century, Thailand had been experiencing constant severe floods which typically occurred in between August and December. Yet, the worst flood ever experienced in more than a half century in Thailand was the mega 2011 flood – indicating tremendous loss of lives and properties across socio-economic sectors. 

GWP China and close partner WRI work on supporting relevant governmental agencies in identifying pros and cons of the new management tools applied in water rate reform and their impacts on the sector of energy and water resources, as well as private businesses and local communities based on financial leverage.

The Buzi, Pungwe and Save (BUPUSA) Tri-basin Project, an initiative that will support the ongoing negotiations on the Buzi and Save River Basin Water Sharing Agreements, and establishment of the BUPUSA Tri-basin Institution, invites candidates to apply for the position of Consultant – BUPUSA Administrative Assistant.

The Executive Secretary of the Country Water Partnership (CWP) Guinea, Mr. Afiziou BARRY took part in the follow up mission on the Garafiri and Fomi dams.

The HLPW was co-convened in 2016 by the UN Secretary-General and the World Bank President to provide the leadership required to tackle one of the world’s most pressing challenges – an ever growing water crisis. The Panel identified ways in which the world could accelerate progress towards ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all (SDG 6).

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. March 22 marks World Water Day 2017. This year’s theme is wastewater. GWP has published two blogs about the theme, and conducted a Facebook Live interview with Rami Abdel Rahman of the Sweden Textile Water Initiative. Around the GWP Network, various celebrations are taking place. However, the main GWP celebration this year concerns the very website you are currently on – the launch of a completely new www.gwp.org.

The CWP Gambia team including the chair, executive Secretary and IWRM Focal point met with the Director General of the Gambia Radio and Television Service in his office on Wednesday 1st of August 2018 to brief him on GCWP activities, GWP, GWPWA and status of IWRM in the Gambia. Plan programmes and constraints were also highlighted.
