GWP China and the World Resources Institute (WRI) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 2, 2017, in Beijing. Mdm Qihua CAI, Chair of GWP China, Prof. Yunzhong JIANG, Secretary General and the Secretariat officers visited WRI's office where had the MOU signing ceremony.

Africa in particular its sub Saharan part, is one of the most affected areas in the world regarding food insecurity (Africa 2014 report on hunger, IFPRI). The agricultural sector which food security and poverty reduction depends very much on in Africa is likely to be affected by climate change if no action is taken.  It is against that background that The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa held national consultations on water and food in Malawi and Lesotho on the 21^st of April 2016.

The financial Officer of the Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) visited CWP-Ghana and partners from 30-31 May 2016. The main purpose of the visit was to interact with the project management team on progress of implementation of the recommendations from the 2014 and 2015 audit reports of WACDEP.

“Water for Sustainable Growth” is the theme of the World Water Week 2016 organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) from 28 August to 2 September, in Stockholm.

Among the Week’s more than 140 events of different formats covering a range of subjects, the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) coordinates on 30 & 31 August, the “MENA Focus”, consisting of 4 separate sessions, each led by partners active in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Region.

The Associated Programme on Flood Management (APFM) was jointly founded in 2001 by the World Meteorological Organization and the Global Water Partnership.

Watersheds are essential to the livelihoods of humans. A significant portion of a society’s economic gain and overall survival is acquired through the ecosystem goods and services provided by watersheds. Jamaica as a Small Island Developing State (SIDS) has recently been facing increased stress and vulnerability to its water resources.

Mr. Hongqi SHANG, on behalf of GWP China Region, was duly approved by the GWP Steering Committee as new independent Nomination Committee member on 5th December 2017, in Stockholm, Sweden. Let us congratulate this tireless water-worrier to be a member of the GWP Nomination Committee!!!

IWRM has been implemented in China since it was founded at both provincial and country levels. The cases present the utilization of IWRM ToolBox tools in different provinces and areas. All of them are collected into GWPO ToolBox database to share with others around the world.
