A set of structured and operational meetings took place on 3-4 May 2018, in Brussels, in the premises of the European Commission, with the aim to progress on the work of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Water Agenda and its Financial Strategy.

On December 11 and 12, 2017, the GWP Pan-Asian delegation formed by members of GWPO, GWP CASENA Region, GWP China Region, GWP SAS Region and GWP SEA Region participated into the 3rd APWS and organized a thematic session during the Summit in Yangon, Myanmar.

The Global Water Partnership held its Regional Days 2018 - its annual gathering of the Global and Regional Secretariats staff and Chairs (13 Regional Water Partnerships) - in Budapest, Hungary, from 22-25 May 2018.

Many activities were carried out in Burkina Faso where the CWP has chosen the Larlé Naaba TIGRE as a Patron early February 2018.

Pour accompagner ses partenaires et PNEs, le GWP CAf recrute un Chargé de Programme Assistant Régional qui sera basé au secrétariat régional du GWP-CAf à Yaoundé. Sous la responsabilité directe du Coordonnateur du Secrétariat Régional GWP-CAf, le/la Chargé de Programme Assistant aura pour tâches principales d’appuyer la mise en oeuvre et, la conception et le développement des « Projets et Programme », y compris le développement et la maintenance de partenariats stratégiques clés. Il appuie également à l’élaboration et le partage des produits de gestion des connaissances avec le réseau GWP et à l’identification de toute synergie avec d'autres projets du réseau GWP, en collaboration avec d'autres partenariats régionaux pour l'eau.

Benin has taken an important step in its efforts to prevent, protect and manage the consequences of climate change that could affect the population in the short, medium and long term. Benin's National Assembly adopted the country's national legislation on 18 June 2018 to: (i) combat climate change and its negative effects and consequences and increase the resilience of living communities (ii) support effective response, adaptation and mitigation measures by setting specific targets for sustainable economic and social development, security and energy efficiency, in accordance with the specific provisions of national and international legal instruments on climate change.

Nine (9) countries across Africa among which four (4) are from West Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali and Nigeria) met in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 18-19 May to take a step further on the national consultations carried out in 2015 that led-up to the UN Committee on Food Security’s (UN CFS) 42^nd session. 

 

Working towards a new paradigm on integrated water management

Under the Strategic Goal 1 Catalyze Change, the WACDEP Programme of GWP China Region stresses cross-regional cooperation, sector plan optimization, investment on recycling renewable resources, south-south promotion and a good lesson of utilizing the water rights market.
