Within the framework of the celebration of the International Youth Day 2016 under the theme “The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production”, some leaders of Cameroon Youth organizations involved in protecting the environment launched on the 13^th of August the process of the establishment of a network entitled “Youth network for wetlands”.

This launching was made during a workshop on the approval of the logical framework document of the network.

 

The workshop itself was organized by Water For Life Cameroon with the support of GWP-CAf. It took place at the GWP-CAf Secretariat in Yaounde, Cameroon.

 

20 leaders from 10 youth organizations such as Water For Life Cameroon (W4L), Women In Development (WID), Jeunes Volontaires de l’Environnement (JVE), Centre de Recherche sur la Forêt et l’Environnement, Institut des Relations Internationales du Cameroun (IRIC), AJEVOH Cameroun, Cameroon Youth Initiative for Rural Development (CAMYIRD), Young Professional Platform for Agricultural Development (YPARD), United Voice to Serve Forest and Environment (USFE) attended the meeting.

 

During this meeting, Global Water Partnership Central Africa (GWP-CAf) shared its experiences on networking: GWP as a multi-players network with a vision and mission. This presentation aimed at strengthening the participants’ understanding of the structure and function of the network they wanted to establish in order to mutualize their effort in protecting the wetlands and underlining the benefits the communities will obtain from wetlands and also guiding youth leaders as a compass in networking.

Lesotho Water Partnership is working with the department of Water Affairs in revising the Lesotho Water and Sanitation Policy of 2007.

Ghana Country Water Partnership (CWP-Ghana) organised a two (2) days interaction session with the communities and institutions involved in the water security and climate resilient development field demonstration project. This was a follow up to the discussions held with the implementing partners in November, 2015. This took place on 12^th and 13^th April, 2016. The visit was carried out by the Communications Officer of WACDEP Ghana and members of the Project Coordination team from the White Volta Basin Office led by the Project Assistant of the Coordination Unit.

GWP China's activities such as the high-level roundtables, fora, workshops, on-site dialogues, thematic programmes and investigations were organized for inviting the stakeholders from the water resources, environmental protection, public health, urban construction, agriculture and transport sectors to exchange ideas on such key issues in the area of water resources management and also for publicizing the water management knowledge and extending the influences. The IWRM knowledge, SDGs promotion, and other related concepts can be fostered and disseminated through means of our technical papers, translation products, the GWP China's Newsletter, etc.

Global Water Partnership-Southern Africa (GWP-SA) announced its re-positioning to re-align and adapt to regional and continental industrial strategy that will entail greater focus on water security, jobs and investments.

Farmer Managed Irrigation Systems (FMIS) Promotion Trust in collaboration with GWP Nepal/JVS organised the 7th International Seminar on ‘Irrigation in Local Adaptation and Resilience' on 11 and 12 April 2017 at Himalaya Hotel, Lalitpur, Nepal.

The network has been set up and the focal points installed. The charter and statutes of the network have been validated.
