The rapid population growth in cities, coupled with a changing climate pose great challenges for both people and nature. An integrated water management approach is required to achieve resilience while creating a livable urban environment.
CWP Benin held on September 20, 2017 a meeting of partners to adopt amendments done in the bylaws of the platform. Speaking, Mr. André TOUPE, chair of the CWP said that the CWP has to reposition itself in a totally changing environment in terms of implementation and compliance with IWRM principles in Benin and that requires a change of role within the water sector.
Eau Vive International (NGO) represented by Kristel MALEGUE, Advocacy and International Partnership Director and the Coalition, and Ilias SAWADOGO, Assistant Youth Programme Officer, made a working visit to Global Water Partnership West Africa on 22 February 2018.
GWP held its annual Regional Days meeting on 23-25 May in Budapest, Hungary. This was followed by meetings of the GWP Steering Committee, Financing Partners Group, and Sponsoring Partners in Stockholm, Sweden on 11-14 June. All meetings were focused on launching the process for developing GWP’s new strategy.
The official ceremony was chaired by Mr. Drissa Samaké, technical advisor to the Ministry of Energy and Water. This year, Mali is celebrating the event in a particularly alarming context. According to the Deputy Director General of Hydraulics, Mr. Djorou Bocoum, water stress has never been so present in Mali since 1984.
