DriDanube (Drought Risk in the Danube Region) project is a 30-month project which started on 1 January 2017 within INTERREG’s Danube Transnational Programme.
GWP co-organised the recent World Meteorological Organization (WMO) HydroConference – the Global Conference for Prosperity through Hydrological Services – in Geneva, Switzerland. The event set out to create better interfaces between the providers of hydrological services and the users who need such services for a wide range of decision-making.
More than 70 participants attended the session “Water Governance & Integrity under change in the MENA: how to boost up implementation efforts?” that took place on Sunday 19 March 2017, during the Arab Water Week 2017 at the Dead Sea, Jordan. The session was organised by GWP-Med and supported by Sida, through the UfM-labelled project “Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector” implemented by GWP-Med and the OECD. It was organised in synergy and close coordination with the “Water Integrity for the MENA” project implemented by the UNDP Water Governance Facility at SIWI.

From 20 to 27 June 2018, a mission of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) composed of consultants Caroline WITTNER and Ramesh TRIPATHI visited Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso.
The GWPSA is providing support in preparatory work towards the formation of the Buzi, Pungwe, Save Tri-Basin Institute, through the Buzi, Pungwe, Save (BUPUSA) Tri-Basin Project on behalf of the ministries responsible for water resources in the governments of Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The project implementation is being undertaken by the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) housed in the Administração Regional de Águas do Centro (ARA) Centro Office in Beira, Mozambique. The PIU has been established to assist the main basin integrated water resources management (IWRM) institutions to plan, coordinate, implement, manage and monitor the activities supported by the project in collaboration with national and international partners.
8 March marks International Women’s Day. The global theme for this year is “Time is Now: Rural and urban activities transforming women’s lives”. To celebrate this important day and highlight the theme, GWPEA interviewed Mrs. Sarah Mawerere, Environmental reporter and gender activist from Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC)and asked her the following question: Time is now for quality in water access and management! How can activism empower #WaterWomen?

Drawing on the global theme for this year: Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality, we are asking women in the water community to answer the question: How can the water sector step it up for gender equality?
