The High Level Panel on Water (HLPW) was set out to raise the profile of water in addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), says Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren, Chair Global Water Partnership Organization (GWPO).

GWP has been implementing the Water, Climate and Development Program for Africa (WACDEP) as part of the work plan of the African Union’s African Ministerial Council on Water (AMCOW). The First Phase of WACDEP has been implemented in 8 countries and 5 transboundary basins in Africa. AMCOW, during the Africa Water Week in July 2016 in Tanzania, endorsed WACDEP to be expanded to additional 10 countries. Kenya is one of the countries selected for the second phase of WACDEP. WACDEP in Kenya is being implemented to support emerging priorities of the country on climate change, financing, sustainable development goals and investment preparation. It will be linked to the National Adaptation Planning (NAP) Process, particularly focusing on Water.

The 3^rd Regional Alumni Workshop in the framework of the Sida funded and Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) labelled programme ‘Water Integrity Capacity Building Programme for the MENA Region’[1] was organized by the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med), in collaboration with Al Akhawayn University, on 23-26 May 2016, in Ifrane, Morocco.

GWP Slovenia organized an exhibition as a tribute to the most unique international competition that connect art with water – the Danube Art Master.

The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine Campus (Faculty of Food and Agriculture) along with other agencies, recently hosted a week-long International Conference entitled “Climate Change Impacts on Food and Nutrition Security” in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

Global Water Partnership (GWP) is partnering with The Zambezi Watercourse Commission (ZAMCOM) in holding the 2nd Zambezi Basin Stakeholders’ Forum.

The Global Water Partnership held its Regional Days 2018 - its annual gathering of the Global and Regional Secretariats staff and Chairs (13 Regional Water Partnerships) - in Budapest, Hungary, from 22-25 May 2018.

Integrated planning of water, food and energy sectors and promoting regional cooperation has been considered as a strategy to meet water, energy and food security targets, and to improve natural resource use efficiency in the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
