GWPSA joined other key stakeholders working around climate change adaptation at a regional workshop on Climate Change National Adaptation Plans for African Anglophone countries. The workshop, which was held in Lilongwe, Malawi from 27 February-3 March 2017, was organised by the UNFCCC LEG and was attended by about 50 participants from 25 Anglophone African countries. The regional training was officially opened by the Chief Director for Environment and Climate Change Management, Dr. Yanira Ntupanyama, Malawi. Remarks were also given from UNFCCC (Dr. Paul Desanker, Manager of NAPs and Policies, and LDCs Expert Group (LEG) Chairman, Mr. Abias Huongo-Angola.
The Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP), being implemented by Global Water Partnership Central Africa (GWP- CAf), has surpassed expectations and supported the production and delivery of National Adaptation Plan (NAP) in Cameroon.
On March 27th, 2018, the Winward Islands Research and Education Foundation (WINDREF) became the new Host Institution (HI) of the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C). Established in 1994, WINDREF is an independent non-profit organisation based at the St. George’s University (SGU) in Grenada. The organisation works to advance health and environmental development through multi-disciplinary research and education programmes. It also promotes regional and international collaborative relationships.
GEF/UNDP/GWP-Med project 'Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the extended Drin River Basin' (GEF Drin Project) is making efforts to raise public awareness about the natural wealth and legacy of the Drin River Basin on the occasion of Drin Day 2017.
The 26th edition of the WWD was celebrated in various but very simple ways by CWP-Benin. On March 22, the CWP took over many media outlets to communicate on the topic of the Day and bring awareness, a support to the National Water Institute (INE), then the preparation of a contest related to the theme of WWD.
A set of structured and operational meetings took place on 3-4 May 2018, in Brussels, in the premises of the European Commission, with the aim to progress on the work of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Water Agenda and its Financial Strategy.
On June 8, 2017, marked the ten-year history of cooperation between Hebei Province and South Holland on water resources development, and thereby celebrating the anniversary in Shijiazhuang, the capital city of Hebei Province.
