The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa participated in the recently held Water Show Africa 2017. The event, organised by Terrapinn Pty Ltd was held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa on 28-29 March 2017. The overall event theme centred around “Strategy and Innovation for Water Utilities, Operators, Partners and End Users”
India Water Partnership (IWP) in association with one of its network partners SM Sehgal Foundation supported by CAWST (Canada) organised a four day workshop-cum-training programme from 28 February to 3 March 2017 in Samastipur District of Bihar, India on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage (HWTS). The workshop raised awareness on issues around WASH and possible solutions and built capacities of the participants on HWTS. It assisted in establishing a stronger water network in Bihar by also including activists involved in other programmes.
Since 2013, GWPEA has been organizing annual regional media workshops aimed at building the capacity of media practitioners in IWRM and sensitizing them on their crucial role in covering water, climate and drought related topics.
GWP WA is a member of the UNEP-DHI/GWP-WA consortium in charge of the mission to support the establishment of the ECOWAS Regional Water Observatory. A workshop was held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on 4 & 5 September 2018 with country focal points on data collection.
BRATISLAVA, January 15, 2018 – Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe is proud to announce that a new international initiative pairing young water advocates with policymakers has been selected for funding by the European Union's Erasmus+ program.
GWP Nigeria organized a General Assembly of Partners on February 2nd, 2017 and among the activities was the election of a new chair for the partnership. Dr Hassan Bdliya has served two terms in office from 2010 to 2016. After a rigorous process of selection, the country partners nominated and elected Mr. Moses Beckley as the new chair.
On the global stage, China has remained a low profile as a late comer in regard of technology, economic development, environmental protection, water and other resources security, climate adaptation. Regardless of the latest adverse impact on the promotion of “the Paris Agreement on Climate Change”, China has kept its promise to the Paris Agreement since it signed in late November of 2016, giving a strong push to the international efforts against global warming.
On the occasion of its 15th Anniversary and the launching of the SDG Water Preparedness Facility Program in Hungary, GWP Hungary invited partners, donors, collaborators and supporters to an Anniversary meeting, which was held on the 20th of November 2017 in Budapest.
