In the run-up to the World Water Day 2016, let’s become ambassadors for change. Let’s address water scarcity utilizing options beyond the conventional!

Here are some of the news of 2015 where GWP or its representatives were mentioned.

On July 6, 2016, the “Live Online Broadcast Launching the China Water Report” was kicked off at 15:00 of Beijing time (08:00 of British time).

 In Burkina Faso, the work is in progress on the second site in the village of Komki after the first one was abandoned because of some land dispute in the village of Baragho. These works include establishing the topographical boundaries of the site, training of beneficiaries by the CWP Project officer for the materialization of the fence, installation of the fence and mobilization of beneficiaries for digging holes.

Vocational School Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov in Vidin, supported by GWP Bulgaria, RIE Vidin, Municipality of Vidin and Regional information centre organized for a second year the teen festival "Rainbow over the Danube" 2016.

The 2017 statutory meetings of GWP CAf were held in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, with the Steering Committee meeting on the 12th and 13th of December 2017 and the General Assembly on the 14th December 2017.

In Bolivia, shifts towards the privatisation of water supply and sewage services caused strong dissatisfaction, resulting in the eruption of social conflict. Because of the severe dissatisfaction, action was taken to cancel the previous agreements and instead launch a forum where government representatives, social organizations, the private sector and municipalities participate to formulate of a new policy. This case illustrates the crucial importance of rooting policies with the public.

One of the key outcomes from the High-Level Panel on Water (2016-2018) was to establish a set of 5 principles on Valuing Water. Following from those recommendations, the Valuing Water Initiative (VWI) was created to support actors in putting those principles into practice. Since the beginning, GWP has been committed to promoting the Valuing Water Principles (VWPs) and using value-based approaches as part of its efforts towards improving water resources management. In collaboration with VWI, GWP supports events and consultation engagement processes at regional and global scales, mainstreams the VWPs in the design and implementation of IWRM plans, promotes the VWPs within its youth engagement initiatives, and develops knowledge products and methodologies related to Valuing Water.
