The 9th World Urban Forum (WUF9), convened by the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), brings together stakeholders to share practices and knowledge on how cities are built, planned and managed. The Forum is held 7-13 February in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Mr Iswer Raj Onta, Regional Chair Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) (2013-2015), passed away on Sunday, 6 March 2016. The entire GWP Network is saddened by his departure and it is a great loss to the South Asia Region.

GWP co-organised a session on the topic of water and disaster risk reduction in Asia during the recent Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) in Mongolia. The session's outcome document highlights a number of ways to combat water-related disasters.

On December 24 and 25, 2016, at the invitation of Henan Water Conservancy Investment Group Co. Ltd, Prof Hao Wang, Standing Vice Chair of GWP China and Prof Yunzhong Jiang, GWP China Secretary General visited Pingyu County and Zhengzhou City to conduct evaluation on local integrated water and environment management projects.
