The Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean envisions a water secure world. Its mission is to advance integrated water resources management at all levels for sustainable and inclusive growth in Mediterranean countries.
Staff from GWP’s 13 regions met for Regional Days in Stockholm, Sweden, on 9-12 May. The annual event is an opportunity to take stock of current and on-going matters in the network, and to plan for the year ahead. Coinciding with this, GWP’s Network Meeting was held, and broadcast live on Facebook.

The Mediterranean is a region rich in history but poor in water resources. The dry landscape led ancient civilisations to seek alternative resources to supply water in their communities. Local wisdom prompted the construction of cisterns to collect rainwater. Rain harvesting is a simple yet revolutionary idea, as it is a cost-efficient practice utilising a sustainable non conventional water source, embodying recycling and reuse principles. Translating traditional practices into modern solutions to address water scarcity was the starting point of the Non Conventional Water Resources Programme in the Mediterranean in 2008.
The capacity building programme on the resilience of WASH services, started in October 2018 with the sessions on Climate Change and Water Resources Management, ended with the session on strategic planning from the 07th to the 09th of November 2018 in Maroua, Cameroon.

Vision and drive to integrate climate change into development planning is vital at all levels of governance. This policy brief presents suggestions for such an integration at different levels of governance. Policy briefs provide policy makers with information on water resources management. This brief was developed under the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP).

The Country Water Partnership of Benin (CWP-Benin), the country office of the Pan African Intergovernmental Agency Water and Sanitation for Africa (WSA-Benin), the Solutis company and the National Water Utility Company of Benin (Soneb) have jointly organized on Wednesday 18 July 2018 a validation workshop of the study report on the "Inventory of existing warning systems in Benin and the sub-region", in the framework of the implementation of the SAC-TIC project.
