Stakeholders review the “Limpopo River Basin: Atlas of Our Changing Environment” manuscript

A review meeting on the 1st draft manuscript on the “Limpopo River Basin: Atlas of Our Changing Environment” took place in Johannesburg, South Africa on 23rd and 24th June, 2016. The planned outputs were met, as participants were able to discuss and strengthen the content; strengthen the visual impact of the atlas and identity case studies and hotspots. By the end of the meeting, the manuscript drafting team agreed to the comments submitted by participants which would once completed improve the content of the atlas and make it easy for planners to put to use.

“Water Investment to the Last Km” in Shaanxi Province, China

According to the WACDEP 2015 Plan of GWP China Region, it was designed under the “Work Package 3: No/low regret investments in regional and national development”, GWP China worked with GWP China Shaanxi Provincial WP, the Research Office of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress and Shaanxi Provincial Water Resources Department to implement the water investment programme in Shaanxi Province from 2014. In 2015, with the support of Xi’an Jiaotong University, GWP China reviewed the contemporary water investment status of Shaanxi Province and developed the assessment.

Benin: workshop on new ECOWAS guidelines on large dams for greater benefit

On Wednesday, 30 August 2017, an awareness and information workshop for civil society, the media and the general public was held in Cotonou on the ECOWAS Directive on the development of hydraulic infrastructures. The workshop was organized by the Benin Country Water Partnership in collaboration with the Ministry in charge of water and the financial support of the IUCN Global Water Initiative (GWI) Project.

Water Salon: Fresh Impetus of SDG 6/7/2 for the Water-Energy-Food Nexus

SDGs refer to a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years (2016-2030). GWP China focuses on SDG#6, the Energy Foundation on SDG#7, and WRI on SDG#2, which makes three lead players integrating the goals from a multilateral aspect.
