March 22 marks World Water Day 2017. This year’s theme is wastewater. GWP has published two blogs about the theme, and conducted a Facebook Live interview with Rami Abdel Rahman of the Sweden Textile Water Initiative. Around the GWP Network, various celebrations are taking place. However, the main GWP celebration this year concerns the very website you are currently on – the launch of a completely new www.gwp.org.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. The National Youth Parliament for Water of Togo (PNJE Togo) organized on 7 April 2017 the second edition of the Water Night in partnership with the collaboration with the Council for Basic Sanitation in Togo (CCABT).

The International Workshop on Water Scarcity: Taking action in transboundary basins and reducing health impacts will take place on 11 - 12 December 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland.

As part of the implementation of the scientific component of the Mekrou project (2014-2017), five computer equipment packages each consisting of a central unit, a screen, an inverter and decision support tools softwares were given to scientific institutions in the three countries of the project: National Water Institue (INE) of Benin, Institute for Environment and Agricultural Research (INERA) of Burkina Faso and University Abdou Moumini (UAM) of Niger and the two regional institutions, NBA and AGHRYMET.
