Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa GWP EAF has contributed to catalysing the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) drought regional investment by mobilizing USD13M to enhance drought resilience of vulnerable communities in the IGAD region

Expert Consultation Meeting on South Asia Drought Monitoring System (SADMS) with focus on Sri Lanka held on 26 September 2017 at International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

GWPSA will participate in a panel discussion and make a presentation on “Sharing of experiences on successful Water Conservation and Demand Management Programmes in other countries”. The discussion is a part of the sector policy dialogue on Water Conservation and Water Demand Management (WDM) that will be hosted by the Policy Unit under the Department of Water Services, South Africa, and will be held on Wednesday 16^th March, 2016 in Pretoria.

The financial Officer of the Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) visited CWP-Ghana and partners from 30-31 May 2016. The main purpose of the visit was to interact with the project management team on progress of implementation of the recommendations from the 2014 and 2015 audit reports of WACDEP.

Drawing on the global theme for this year: Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality, we have asked women in the water community to answer the question: How can the water sector step it up for gender equality?

The AIP Technical Advisor will be responsible for leading the entire cycle of AIP programme development and coordination with the African Union, NEPAD, UNECA and AMCOW. S/he will pay particular attention to balancing the Pan African political and technical requirements for the full operationalisation of the AIP; and ensure alignment of AIP to the AU/NEPAD, UNECA and AMCOW pan African water agenda.

Water Star is an initiative developed by a Youth group in Burkina Faso under the patronage of the Minister of Water and Sanitation.

On Wednesday 31 January 2018, the Via Water project was launched in Cotonou, Benin. The launch ceremony took place under the sponsorship of the Deputy Secretary General of the Minister of Water and Mines, in the presence of the actors of the consortium in charge of the said project, the representatives of public structures of the sub-sector, the Ministry of Health, the young water professionals of the Beninese Network of Youth of the World Water Parliament (RB/PMJE) and the economic operators of the water sector.

Under the Strategic Goal 1 Catalyze Change, the WACDEP Programme of GWP China Region stresses cross-regional cooperation, sector plan optimization, investment on recycling renewable resources, south-south promotion and a good lesson of utilizing the water rights market.
