Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP – Med), as legally and lawfully represented by the civil non-profit society “MEDITERRANEAN INFORMATION OFFICE FOR ENVIRONMENT, CULTURE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT – MIO-ECSDE” intends to process a call for quotations for “The rehabilitation and maintenance of the stormwater reservoir at the Presidential Palace in Malta” within the framework of the programme “Climate Change Adaptation through Non Conventional Water Resources Management in North Mediterranean Programme (Alter Aqua)”

GWP representatives are at the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany, taking place 16-26 May. The focus is on GWP support for the implementation of the Paris Agreement, specifically in relation to the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) from countries, the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes, South-South Cooperation, and financing. On Thursday 19 May GWP is co-organising a high level side event together with the Government of Morocco, the UNFCCC Secretariat Adaptation Programme, and GIZ.

Three-day AWC First General Assembly-Summary Report

The 1^st Asia Water Council General Assembly was hosted and Co-organized by Ministry of Public Works and Housing and AWC Secretariat on 24-26 March 2016, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa, Bali, Indonesia. The AWC was established by 15 Founders of Countries and international Agencies since the 7^th World Water Week in Korea. The AWC aims to raise global awareness of Asia’s water problems and promote the sustainable development of Asia by resolving regional water issues. The General Assembly aimed to discuss the AWC Constitution and the operation plan for the AWC and to share the commitments from Founders. The General Assembly was attended by about 200 participants from about 50 organizations including Minister, Vice-Minister, Directors General, Directors, Chairpersons, AWC Secretariat, national and international organizations from Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia such as UNESCO-IHP, FAO, and ADB (Asian Development Bank), KOICA,  Representative of GWP SEA, Country Water Partnership of Indonesia, national agencies etc. 

 

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. GWP Eastern Africa (GWPEA) Regional Project Manager for IDMP attended the 1st Africa Drought Conference (ADC) that was held on 15-19 August 2016 in Windhoek, Namibia. The theme of the conference was “Enhancing resilience to drought events on the African Continent”. The conference was aimed at discussing ways by the participants (African Union states, UN agencies and other stakeholders) of enhancing resilience on the African continent

A national workshop on the appropriation of the dialogue NEXUS Water-Energy- Food Security was organized on 02 and 03 May 2018 by the National Coordination of Users of the Niger basin (CNU). The CWP-MALI was represented by its chair, Mr Sylla Mamadou.

The Regional Coordinator visited the Ramitenga site where the Burkina WACDEP is implementing its pilot project for the demonstration of drip irrigation through solar energy to boost agricultural production. 

GWP Annual Report Files consist of the annual monitoring summary on: progress markers, logframe indicators, implementation of planned activities and self-assessment on progress around critical GWP functions. By wrapping up the annual performance, all RWPs are requested to draft out the the planned set of activities to be implemented in next year. The work plan files consist of context and workplan summary, detailed workplan and budget.

A Togolese Web Television led by Rolande AZAKIA, a dynamic young lady was officially launched on March 8, the International Women’s Day. The event gathered some personality including the Minister of Communication of Togo, the EU Ambassador, representatives of the US Embassy and many others including Aurore BIOKOU representing GWP.

The World Water Development Report (WWDR) has played a key role in informing stakeholders, including decision-makers, worldwide as to the status of water resources in relation to the UN World Water Day themes each year.
