ABOUT GWP-Med

The Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) aims at a water-secure Mediterranean, through application of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approaches. It brings together more than 100 stakeholders of different water disciplines, including 10 regional stakeholders networks. It was established in 2002, and is one of the 13 Regions of the intergovernmental organization Global Water Partnership (GWP).

Water - an engine for growth, development and industrialisation

Right at the heart of Namibia, “the land of the brave”, in the capital Windhoek was the venue for the 7th SADC Multi- stakeholder Water Dialogue held from the 29th to the 30th of September, 2015. Held under the theme, “Watering Development in SADC: The central role of water in driving industrialization” the dialogue was attended by 150 delegates from across the region representing the water sector, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), cooperating and development partners, academia, the media, and other relevant stakeholders from non-water entities (energy, agriculture, industrialization). The delegates, of which a good number were youth were brought together to deliberate the role that water will play in driving industrialization in the region.

The Natural Farming Summit 1.0

This summit will address key themes related to enhancing farm yields, improving nutritive value of crops, increasing farmer earnings and preserving local biodiversity. An entire session is dedicated to Water Management and Harvesting for farming.

CALL FOR the Procurement of Individual Consultancy Services on Gender Mainstreaming

The Global Water Partnership Mediterranean is seeking to hire an Individual Consultant in the framework of the project Water, Climate and Development Programme «WACDEP» in synergy with ‘Making Water Cooperation Happen in the Mediterranean’ Project, in relation to the “Gender Mainstreaming Strategy“ in the NWSAS basin and “Training on gender mainstreaming in development planning”.

Engaging Media Practitioners in the Region

From 22- 23 October 2015, the Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa (GWPEA) conducted a regional workshop themed “ Role of the media in promoting water security, climate resilience and drought risk management”. The workshop was attended by 15 media practitioners from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

SITWA Project organises the AWIS workshop in Dakar

GWP WA is one of the Focal points of the African Water Information and Documentation System (AWIS) managed by the ANBO through its Strengthening the Institutions of Transboundary Basins Organizations (SITWA) Project based at the OMVS in Dakar, Senegal. The workshop was to identify the main directions for a work plan addressing the identified needs and gaps of the African Water Information System (AWIS).
