A regional water youth network was created by participants to the recent Youth for Water Conference organised by GWP Central America, Movimiento de Jóvenes por el Agua (Youth Movement for Water, MOJA) and La Ruta del Clima (The Climate Route) and supported by GWP South America, UNICEF-Nicaragua, Reforestamos Mexico, and IUCN. 

GWP has sponsorship available for eligible participants to complete the online course in Integrated and Adaptive Water Resources Planning, Management and Governance offered by McGill University’s Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

Given the importance of WRCC in coordinating water resource management in West Africa in particular and that of ECOWAS generally politically and economically, and because of the many joint initiatives underway, GWP / WA met with the Director of WRCC, Ibrahim Babatunde WILSON. The GWP delegation led by its Chair, Prof. Afouda, included the Executive Secretary and the Mekrou and IDMP projects officers.
The two organizations raised a number of initiatives underway at GWP / WA of which WRCC is an integral part, including the Mekrou project, IDMP, or those in which the WRCC should take the lead like the initiative on the regional dialogue on the joint management of shared aquifers in West Africa.

GWP publishes Perspectives Papers to contribute to discussions on important issues related to water and development. We welcome responses to these occasional papers.

The Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med) is seeking to hire a Project Manager for the GEF funded project titled: “Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the extended Drin River Basin”.

The 22nd Regional Council (RC) Meeting of Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) and the Regional Workshop on Rapid Country Level Analysis were held back-to-back from 29-30 September and on 28 September 2016 respectively in Kathmandu, Nepal.

In a long-anticipated event, the UN’s High Level Political Forum (HLPF) met in New York in July, to review progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, including, for the first time, the one dedicated to water, SDG 6. A GWP delegation was present, communicating key messages from its global network of 3,000-plus partners.

The series of themed water discussion under the “Water Salon” has been designed and prepared since October of last year.  The first activity was held on May 11, 2015 in Beijing. Water Salon is organized by GWP China and its three regional partners, including the World Resources Institute (WRI) China, the WWF China and the IUCN China.
