Stockholm Junior Water Prize in Hungary

National winner team from Fényi Gyula Jesuit Secondary Grammar School in Miskolc won national final held on 1 June 2013 at the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture in Budapest.

New chair visits Secretariat and some regional partners

Professor Abel Akambi AFOUDA visited Ouagadougou from 6 to 11 June 2013. This was his first visit as the new Chair to the Secretariat to touch realities of his collaborators and have an overview of main issues to tackle by GWP at regional level. He also had some discussions with his predecessor.

Development of Water Law in Georgia

On May 29, 2013, GWP Georgia organised a meeting with NGOs in Tbilisi for a presentation of the draft water law by an expert group. GWP Georgia’s role as a catalyst was recognized by the participants as having improved the water legislation.

Malawi Water Partnership

The Malawi Water Partnership is a body that is made up of Partners in Malawi that are duly registered with the Global Water Partnership Organisation (GWPO) as GWP Partners. It is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, non-political, human rights-based and gender-oriented network of institutions and organisations in Malawi. Malawi Water Partnership was accredited to GWPO in 2023 as GWP Malawi.

DRC Water Partnership

The DRC Country Water Partnership (DRC-CWP) was established in November 2004. The Partnership was established to assist government and other actors        to promote Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) principles in the water sector and related sectors. The Partnership is hosted by The National Committee of Water and Sanitation.

South Africa Water Partnership

The South African Country Water Partnership (SACWP) was first launched in 2002 at a time when the Department of Water Affairs was heavily engaging with different stakeholders for implementing its 1998 new water law. Since the launch, there have been a number of attempts to revive the CWP.

  • Between 2005 and 2008, various attempts were made to rekindle the interest in the CWP primarily in the academic sector, all of which bore little to no fruit.
  • The last push to revive the CWP was in 2009 by the then interim chair of the CWP.
