GWP’s VISION is a water secure world. Our MISSION is to advance governance and management of water resources for sustainable and equitable development.

OUR UNIQUE VALUE: GWP mobilises action on the global water crisis through a unique combination of social capital, shared values, credibility within the global water community, bottom-up orientation, and expertise. A network of networks, we ensure the ‘voices of water’ can inﬂuence local, national, regional, and global development priorities. We are committed to our role as a neutral convener and respected for our focus on inclusiveness and sustainability.

GWP Regions

This is where you can find links to the websites of our Regional Water Partnerships (RWPs). RWPs are closest to the countries where we work. They share knowledge and learning across national boundaries and are expected to have an open, inclusive, and gender-sensitive policies for bringing together as wide a group of stakeholders as possible to solve water problems.

GWPSA welcomes New Chair - Dr. Kuiri F. Tjipangandjara

At the 11^th GWPSA Consulting Partners held in Pretoria from 12-13^th November, 2015, GWPSA Partners elected a new Chair. In line with GWPSA’s Constitution, the Chair will serve for four years. The new Chair, Dr. Kuiri F. Tjipangandjara is from Namibia. He obtained his D Sci Eng Degree in 1991 in Mineral Engineering and Chemical Metallurgy, at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Columbia University, New York City, USA.

Sustainable Water Management - a Pivotal Role in the 2030 Development Agenda

Global Water Partnership (GWP) welcomes the aspirational 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by Member States at the UN General Assembly on September 25, 2015. The transformational vision of the agenda is ambitious and will need an unwavering commitment on the part of everyone. GWP will play its part.

Water Use Efficiency Manuals

GWP-C in its efforts to improve water resources management in the region has developed two training manuals on Water Use Efficiency in the Agriculture Sector and the Tourism Industry.

Caribbean Water and Climate Knowledge Platform

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are deemed to be some of the most vulnerable countries in the world to climate change. This is in part attributed to sea-level rise, coupled with the small size of these territories amidst growing populations and other development challenges. Of these development challenges, achieving water security remains an enduring issue which will only be further exacerbated by the threat of climate change.

6th Partners Meeting: Special session on GWP Waf projects

A special day session was organized on May 5, 2015 just before the Partners meeting held on 7 and 8 May 2015 in Cotonou, Benin. The session aimed at all the representatives of Country Water Partnerships (CWP) invited for the Assembly of Partners but focused mainly on countries where the three projects are being carried out: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and Niger.

GWP Venezuela Helps Citizens Check Water Quality

The water situation in Venezuela remains critical, both in quality and quantity. In a recent national television interview, Yazenia Frontado, Chair of GWP Venezuela and Vice Chair of GWP South America, spoke about GWP Venezuela’s work to revert this situation.

Mekrou project: the cooperation framework agreement document handed to NBA Executive Secretary

The Mekrou Project Officer handed over to NBA Executive Secretary 4 original copies and the electronic version of the draft Cooperation Framework Agreement for the promotion of political dialogue in the Mekrou basin. The event took place in Niamey, Niger on August 4, in the premises of the NBA Secretariat with the Executive Secretary, surrounded by his closest collaborators. The Executive Secretary promised to get the NBA Legal advisor examined the document and to initiate its enrolling in the agenda of the next Council of Ministers.

Advocacy of the West African Chair for a water dedicated goal in the post-2015 Agenda

In his address to the participants during the official ceremony of the Integrated Drought Management Project in West Africa (IDMP-WAF), the Chair of GWP-WA, Pr. Abel AFOUDA made a vibrant plea inviting organizations represented at the workshop and other regional institutions and governments in the region to add their voice to the GWP in the campaign for a dedicated "Water Goal" in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be adopted in September 2015 on the occasion of the 70^th ordinary Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
