Due to a growing need within the region for countries to agree on a water-related research agenda and themes, and to avoid duplication in research, a workshop on developing a Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Water Research Agenda was held at St. George Hotel in Pretoria, South Africa from the 8th to the 9th of April 2015. The workshop was planned and organised conjointly by SADC and WaterNet with the cooperation of GWP SA.

With global change projections pointing to increasing water scarcity and drought in the Mediterranean, which are bound to cause significant environmental and socio-economic impacts, the development of a new management approach for water basins by integrating scientific thinking with sociological considerations seems essential.

The Consultation Framework of Non State Actors in the water and sanitation sector in Benin organized the 4^th edition of the Media Wash Café to share with journalists the results management of the sector water and sanitation in 2014.

 

The 11^th Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWP SA) Consulting Partners meeting will be held from the 13^th to the 14^th of October 2015 in Pretoria, South Africa. The meeting that is held after every two years brings together the GWP Partners in Southern Africa, GWP SA Board, Regional Technical Committee (RTEC) and the GWP SA Secretariat staff. Also invited are the Strategic Partners with whom GWP SA has programmatic alliances, but these are self-funded.

On 09 March 2017, the Executive Secretary of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory(OSS), Mr. Khatim Kherraz and the Ugandan Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Matia Kassaija signed in Kampala, Uganda and Agreement for the implementation of the project called “Enhancing resilience of communities to climate change through catchment based integrated management of water and related resources in Uganda” (EURECCCA).

The 3^rd Climate Services User Forum for the Water Sector (CSUF-Water-3) held from 27 to 28 April in Colombo, Sri Lanka was successfully concluded yesterday, 28 April 2016.

In order to examine and internalize the High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE)’s report on Water for Food Security and Nutrition (FSN), GWPEA facilitated on 11^th August, the Ethiopian national consultation group workshop.

After being registered at the Ministry of Civil Affairs as an independent legal organization in March, 2016, GWP China is capable of expanding professional areas.

Eighty representatives from a diversity of water–related sectors participated in an informative meeting, held on 22 May 2015 in La Paz, to learn about the advantages of establishing a Country Water Partnership (CWP) in Bolivia.
