The “built water storage South Asia project” in-country consultation was held with the participation of Water Experts on 12 June 2024 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
As part of the implementation of the TFTC 2 country project in Benin in the commune of Tanguiéta, capacity building activities were organized in February 2022 for young students and members of the Local Water Committee (CLE) on plant production.
The Pungwe River Basin originates in the eastern highlands of Zimbabwe and flows through Mozambique into the Indian Ocean. About 5 % of the basin area is in Zimbabwe, with the remainder in Mozambique. However, about 28% of basin flows are generated on the Zimbabwean side. The basin is rich in plant and animal diversity, which is constantly under threat from anthropogenic activities.
Caribbean youth continue to be a significant stakeholder in the work of the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C), an organisation that sees youth as agents of change in water management in the region.
Kamuisa village in Dedza district is just a few meters from Lake Malawi, the fifth largest freshwater body in the world, and yet the community could not produce enough food to last all year round. The community could not cultivate enough during the rainy season and did not have the infrastructure to collect water from the lake. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat came in to support the community to establish a climate-resilient water, energy, and food nexus project that would utilise water from the lake for irrigation of various crops and domestic use.
The implementation of the TonFuturTonClimat funded by the Quebec Government, GWP, the Swiss cooperation and Agence de l’Eau Artois Picardie is impacting the social organization of youth in the municipality of Tanguieta, Northern Benin.
Under the GEF/UNEP MedProgramme, a Nexus Policy Dialogue for Lebanon based on a Nexus Assessment, led by GWP-Med aims to promote tangible solutions contributing to the security of water, energy and food resources, while protecting valuable ecosystems and their functions.
