The Department of Agriculture, Water Resources and Environment (DAREN) and the ECOWAS Commission in collaboration with the Global Water Partnership in West Africa (GWP-WA), the African Network of Basin Organizations (ANBO); the Secretariat of the Convention for the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (UNECE) organized a regional workshop on the theme "Operationalization of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) at the river basin level in West Africa: approaches, achievements, challenges and good practices'', from November 30 to December 03, 2021, both face to face in Ouagadougou with virtual participation of partners in the countries.

As a custodian of integrated water resources management (IWRM) in the Region, GWPEA draws on 20 years of multi-level implementing experience, enabled by a functional interface with global development agendas, leadership, and finance flows.

The GWP W.A.Y. is an opportunity for young professionals to realise their potential in the water community, become influencers and leaders, create momentum with key actors, and enhance youth engagement and empowerment in water resources management. The first global activity is a joint GWP, CAP-NET, University of Andres/UNESCO online course, “From Learning to Leading: Beyond the ABCs of Youth, Water, and the SDGs.” Registration opens on 17 August and the course is free.
