On 13 May 2022, the second meeting of the Steering Committee (SC) of the "Water for Growth and Poverty Reduction in the Mekrou sub-basin of Niger" Project (Mekrou Phase 2-Niger Project), financed by the European Union through its Delegation in Niamey, was held in Dosso.

The address followed the formal announcement of the International High-Level Panel on Water Investment for Africa by HE Macky Sall, President of Senegel, at the same event.
In Kpélé, Togo, 20 delegates designated by beneficiaries were trained as trainers on agroecological practices so to allow them give feedback when they are back in their respective communities.
The final evaluation of the support to the youth of the Communal Hygiene and Sanitation Association (ACHA) of Tanguiéta on the production of compost from solid household waste revealed that the training definitely raised the level of mastery of the members of the association on the production and exploitation of various compost.
Phase 2 Niger of the Mekrou Project financed by the European Union is being implemented in the Niger portion of the Mekrou river basin by GWP-WA in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Sanitation through SP/PANGIRE NIGER and CWP Niger.

The Presidential Decree N°2021/754 of 28th December 2021, makes Cameroon the 6th African country to adhere to the 1992 Helsinki Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes.
