Droughts are a major challenge facing several parts of the world. GWP is working with many partners to provide knowledge that countries can act on in response to these crises.

On 26 April 2021, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in Zambia, in collaboration with GWPSA, convened a kick-off ceremony for the National Adaptation Planning for Climate Resilience (NAP4CR) Project.

GWP Armenia teamed up with the local government in Parakar, and an engineering consultancy, to implement an affordable solution to prevent the discharge of untreated sewage into the environment. The solution enabled the reuse of treated wastewater which increased the water supply for irrigation, thereby improving agricultural productivity and food security. 

World Water Day is commemorated on 22 March - an annual UN observance to focus attention on the global water crisis. This year’s theme is 'Valuing Water', exploring what water means to people, its value and how we can protect this essential life resource. GWP South Asia, the global GWP office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Netherlands are organising a regional webinar on experiences and lessons at country level.

The GWP CEE Sustainable Sanitation Task Force provided feedback to the EU Integrated Nutrient Management Action Plan. The process was open until 26 April 2022.

Jakarta - World Water Forum (WWF) Kick-Off Meeting was successfully held from 15-16 February 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center. This first stakeholders meeting facilitated several discussions on six topics of water management through thematic and regional processes. This event was attended by policy makers, academics, private sectors, practitioners, and associations operating in and related to the water sector.

In an ambitious effort to improve climate resilience at community level, GWP teamed up with a broad range of stakeholders to implement a pilot project in a transboundary catchment area. The project showcased the range of activities needed to bring about change: awareness-raising, stakeholder engagement, institutional capacity-building, and integration with government priorities.

“Access to water and climate information services: better understanding gender inequalities to strengthen women's decision-making power in Benin” is the topic of the training workshop on December 21-22, 2021, in Natitingou, Benin by the CWP and the WACDEP-G team.
