In celebration of this year's World Water Day theme "Water for Peace", GWP-Med, Horizon2020 REXUS Communication & Dissemination leader, explains the 3 ‘steps’ that are key to turning water into an opportunity for collaboration rather than conflict, and how REXUS is addressing them.
Danube4ALL project (Restauration of the Danube River basin Waters for ecosystems and people from mountains to coast) is an EU ‘Lighthouse Initiative’ in support of Mission “Restore our ocean and waters by 2030". This 5-year, Horizon Europe funded project consists of a consortium of 48 Partners and Associated Partners from 14 European countries.
The GWP 2021 Network Meeting of Partners took place online on 1 & 2 December under the Theme “Leading Change and Innovation through our Partners”. GWP-Med was actively involved, presenting examples of success stories from its work around the Mediterranean in several Breakout Sessions.

The Water Museum of Burkina Faso in Moutili near the capital city Ouagadougou marked the event with a mobilisation of local communities through various recreational and awareness-raising activities. Several schools of Loumbila and Saaba, the women's group of Moutili mobilized to offer a pleasant and inspired show, rich in sequences.
In June 2024, Somalia concluded the implementation of a two-year Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Programme aimed at enhancing the country’s capacity to access climate finance. Approved in November 2021, the project was designed to strengthen the institutional capacity of Somalia’s Federal Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, as the country’s National Designated Authority (NDA) to access and manage climate finance, develop GCF Country Programme and develop investment concept notes. Implementation of these three main activities under the GCF Readiness Programme and its successful completion is a significant step in Somalia's journey towards climate resilience and sustainable development.
Maximising the EU H2020 REXUS project visibility, GWP-Med, as leader of the Communication and Dissemination, ensured that the key outcomes of the project received extensive media coverage from national and local media.
