The tenth Assembly of Partners of GWP West Africa held on September 2021 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on the theme "Covid-19 Crisis Response Strategy for Water Security and Sustainable Development in West Africa”.

In the framework of the AEWEN project (Africa Europe Water & Energy Network), co-financed by the European Union's COSME programme, CWP Senegal has signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Consortium.

GWP was actively involved during the first week of the COP 26 climate summit in Glasgow – ensuring that delegates and other participants understand the critical priority of catalysing climate-resilient development, integrated resilience planning, and facilitating access to climate finance for investments in water. This effort has been amplified through the Water and Climate Pavilion in the Blue Zone, offering up to 100 events on water and climate over the course of two weeks.

Summer School 2023 will open doors to the next generation of young water professionals from 2-8 July in Prague, Czechia to explore the benefits of Natural Small Water Retention Measures for Sustainable Water Management.

As part of the implementation of the TFTC 2 country project in Benin in the commune of Tanguiéta, capacity building activities were organized in February 2022 for young students and members of the Local Water Committee (CLE) on plant production.

As an official intergovernmental observer to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and a core partner of COP27’s Water Pavilion, GWP actively prepared for this year’s COP by promoting discussion of the vital role of good water management for increasing climate resilience throughout the year.

Kenneth Alfaro Alvarado is Project Cooridinator for Water Pollution Prevention at Nicoya Peninsula Waterkeeper in Costa Rica. The non-profit organisation has been a GWP Partner since 2013 - their motivation to join the GWP network was a wish to participate in the processes around Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). The Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Burkina Faso launched the TFTC2 project on May 27, 2021 at the Komki -Ipala town hall. This second phase of the project, which will run from 2021 to 2023, was built on the experience of the first phase of the Tonfuturtonclimat project.
