From a distance, Kalima Primary School in Chikwawa district in the Southern part of Malawi looks like any other public school in the country; happy children running up and down around the school campus but cautious of the scotching heat. Temperatures in Chikwawa can get as high as 40 degrees Celsius and yet, the only water tap at the school is mostly dry. Children must brave both the heat and unending desire to quench their thirst.

For the past 10 months, Malawi has been battling a cholera outbreak which health authorities have classified as the worst in decades. The Government of Zambia has launched its National Adaptation Plan (NAP), a long-term Strategic Plan formulated to address identified risks and vulnerabilities in various sectors to enhance Zambia's resilience to the impacts of climate change. The NAP was developed in partnership with GWP which provided technical and project management support and the Green Climate Fund funded the development process. The NAP, launched on Tuesday, 14 November in Lusaka.
The consulting company will work closely with the national project coordinator, CAR’s NDA, and GWP team at national, regional, and global levels to design, develop and implement a suitable climate finance monitoring and tracking system that is responsive to the needs of the country's users. The current capacity of the NDA for monitoring and evaluation has been identified as low, and the selected firm will thus have an opportunity to significantly influence the future operation of CAR’s monitoring, reporting, and verification of climate finance. Consequently, the selected consulting company is expected to bring significant expertise and experience in developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems in a developing country context.
