GWL in CAR: Addressing gaps in the water and climate sectors through popularizing policy documents

To promote a climate-resilient approach to the management of water resources in the Central African Republic, GWP-Central African Republic (CWP-CAR), in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy Development and Water Resources, organized a two-day multi-stakeholder workshop on May 4–5 in Bangui to popularize and promote the ownership of existing strategy and policy documents in the country’s water and climate sectors.

March 22, 2022, UN World Water Development Report 2022 “Groundwater - making the invisible visible” was launched at the opening ceremony of the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal. GWP China facilitated the launching of the Executive Summary of the Report in Chinese.

MOOC on Transboundary Freshwater Security Enters Second Year with More Language Versions

The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on transboundary freshwater security opened in August 2020. A year on, the MOOC has attracted over 2,300 participants from 150 countries, and the course is confirmed for another year on the same platform – with more language versions in the making to reach an even greater audience, and with more interactive events to engage participants. Chinese video subtitles are already available, and several other translations are under preparation.

Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena inaugurates the 28th Regional Council Meeting of Global Water Partnership South Asia

The Regional Council (RC) meeting is the annual governance meeting of Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) held from 9-10 November 2022 in Negombo, Sri Lanka. The two-day planning and progress review meeting was hosted by the Regional Chair, Ms Kusum Athukorala with the support of the GWP SAS Regional Secretariat. This was the first in-person regional meeting to be held after three years of online meetings.

Mekrou Project 2 Niger looks at an integrated approach for pilot actions

The Project management team of the project organized two workshops in Falmey (Dosso) and Tillaberi from 18 to 21 October, 2022 for the elaboration of the action plan for the integrated management of water resources and other related resources of the pilot sites of the Mekrou Phase 2 Niger Project in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger.
