GWP-WA held this Saturday, December 2, 2023 the 11th Partners Assembly under the theme: ''Accelerating the achievement of SDG6 in a context of security crisis in West Africa: Challenges, Innovative Strategies and Contributions of Partnerships''. The event took place in #Ouagadougou, #Burkina Faso under the patronage of the Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso represented by the Director General of Water Resources.
Co-organized by GWP and the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU CRIS), an online session was held on 15 June 2022 about multilevel governance (MLG) in the context of transboundary waters.

The Mono Basin Authority (MBA) held a workshop to validate the report document of the new strategic plan 2023-2027 of the basin. The meeting took place on October 18 to 20, 2022 in Grand Popo (Benin). The official ceremony was led by Mr. Christophe Mègbédji, prefect of the department of Couffo and chair of the Mono Basin Management Committee in Benin.
Four SADC Oceanic States of Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles are collaborating to develop a Water, Energy, Food & Ecosystem (WEFE) Security Nexus Regional Programme that promotes a multi-sector approach in ensuring natural resource use efficiency, whilst achieving water, energy, and food security.
An innovative first of its kind workshop for Albania on Wastewater Management in the context of Circular Economy was organised in July 2022. It provided participants with a 360o view on the benefits and opportunities for synergies across sectors in the proper management of Wastewater.
The Lake Chad Basin Commission and GWP-Central Africa, with the support of the World Metrological Organization, organized the second regional stakeholder consultation for the "Integrated Water Resources Management and Early Warning System for Climate Change Resilience in the Lake Chad Basin" project. The regional workshop was held in N’Djamena, Chad, on March 29th–31st, 2023.
The SDG 6.5.1 Support Program is GWP’s flagship program aimed at assisting the national SDG 6.5.1. Focal Points in the organisation and facilitation of multi-stakeholder consultation on SDG Indicator 6.5.1, also known as Stage 1 support. The second stage is designed to facilitate the development of an Action Plan or similar in response to the identified challenges in Stage 1. Lastly, Stage 3 has an objective to support the implementation of the selected actions.
