The government of Senegal is looking to find a more sustainable response to flood governance, with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) has developed the Integrated Flood Management Project in Senegal (PGIIS), which is based on a scientific and institutional approach to urban flood management at the local and national levels, which goes beyond and national scale that goes beyond the construction of infrastructure.
Africa 21 is an African Forum covering three strands of major importance for the continent. Linked and complementary, they deal with Water Security, Energy Sovereignty and Food Independence in the era of climate change, desertification and issues related to growth in the era of the 21st century. The Transboundary Freshwater Security Governance Train continues its journey. The next online session is planned for 15th September 2022. The 12th online interactive session explores the ways how to better involve indigenous people in the governance of transboundary waters and practical examples of the role of indigenous people in transboundary water management.
Operated by the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme, the Funding Matchmaking Initiative aims to match country-defined priorities for water management improvements which are lacking financing or only have partial funding, with local funding sources, external donors and other funding agencies that have available financing but which are not currently investing in water management at the scale required or in the most coordinated manner.

This series of online engagement sessions follow a ‘train-like’ approach, stopping at various locations around the world and focusing on topics related to transboundary freshwater security. Each new stop explores a different topic from the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security. The Transboundary Freshwater Security Governance Train continues its journey on 16 November, with a 9th interactive session in the series. The topic for this event is water diplomacy and negotiation in international water law. It is a jointly organized by GWP and Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI)/International Centre for Water Cooperation (ICWC).
