The Central Africa Republic Country Water Partnership (CWP Central Africa Republic) has designated a new Chair for its Technical and Scientific Committee.
The Water Resources Commission (WRC), in collaboration with the Country Water Partnership - Ghana (CWP-Ghana) is conducting a review of the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) plans for the Pra and Tano Basins.
Eight African entries have qualified in the semi-finals of the Water ChangeMaker Awards, which were launched by GWP and partners in 2020 to recognise the teams and organisations who shape water decisions that build climate resilience.
Every year, all GWP Regions meet to brainstorm, share knowledge and learn about current challenges and future opportunities for the network at the annual regional days. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, this year’s regional days was held virtually for a period of four days, starting June 1st with over 100 participants at the opening plenary chaired by the outgoing Executive Secretary (ES), Monika Weber-Fahr . All regions were fully represented including GWP-CAf which was represented by the Regional Chair, Regional coordinator, as well as the Finance and Communications officers.
It’s been called the African COP, the Adaptation COP, the Implementation COP, the Solutions COP, and the Development COP. Clearly, there is a lot riding on the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) this 6–18 November. It marks the 30th anniversary of the Convention’s adoption, but also a new and difficult phase in global climate action.

The development of the AIP Water Investment Scorecard will formally kick off at an event hosted by the Chair of GWP Southern Africa - Africa Coordination Unit, His Excellency President Jakaya Kikwete, in Pretoria, South Africa. Albania has made significant improvements in advancing the normative framework for gender equality in recent years. An online Technical Workshop on Gender Equality (GE) and Sustainable Development in Nexus attempted to discuss how gender is addressed in Nexus sectors’ strategies and policies and bring some concrete best practices on how gender issues can be addressed in development programmes.
On March 24, 2022, the National University of Public Service in Budapest, Hungary, conferred an honorary doctorate on Jerome Delli Priscoli, GWP’s Technical Committee Chair from 2016 to 2022.
