GWP is coordinating the formulation of a Water Resources Strategy and Action Plan for the Nacaome, Choluteca and Sampile river basins in the Gulf of Fonseca region in Honduras. The Strategy was validated in a series of workshops in December and January and is expected to be finalized during the month of March 2021.
On 2 June 2021, GWP-Med and the Coca-Cola Company were invited to present the results of their 10+ year collaboration on NCWR technical solutions, at the launch event for the GWP report "Mobilising Change: 10 years of climate resilient water investments".
As a 32-year-old raised and living in Tunisia and a GWP-Med team member working on its MENA agenda, Dr Sondos Njoumi has a unique insight into youth and women’s mindset in relation to sustainability efforts for environmental and water issues.
GWP held its annual Regional Days meeting on 1-4 June. The virtual event set a record in numbers, with over 120 GWP participants worldwide. While the main purpose is to have a shared understanding of GWP priorities and approaches, one of the highlights this year was the ‘virtual signing’ of a grant agreement between GWP and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) on readiness support to the Zambia National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
The Water and Climate Network of Central African Youth Organisations (RECOJAC) participated in the launch meeting of the 9th World Water Forum from 20th to 21st June 2019. The Youth network is recognized as a key regional network for supporting the preparation of the Forum.
22 October 2020, the China Water News published a special issue on which composed interviews with leaders of the Ministry of Water Resources, GWP China, IAHR, ICID and more international organizations. The powers, from various standpoints, introduced their international water cooperation outcomes and highlights.
July 27, 2020, the Consultation Workshop of SDG 6.5.1 2020 Reporting was organized by GWP China, inviting twenty experts on water and environment authorities, media, research institutes, enterprises and NGOs.
The SADC Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus Governance Framework, that was developed by SADC with technical assistance from GWPSA, was approved in a joint meeting held by the Ministers responsible for Energy and Water from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on the 30th October 2020 through video conferencing, hosted by the Republic of Mozambique.
