The WEFE4MED project is organising a webinar on "Unlocking the Potential of WEFE Nexus Demonstrators: Insights, Innovations and Best Practices" on Tuesday, 27th May, 13:00-14:30 CET.
The WEFE4MED project is a Coordination and Support Action (CSA), supported by PRIMA, aiming to foster the adoption of a Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus approach in the Mediterranean through the establishment of a Nexus Community of Practice (NCoP). The NCoP brings together practitioners, scientists, policymakers, civil society, media, entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors, to exchange knowledge build capacitιes and promote science-based policies. By highlighting innovative practices from demonstration sites across the region, the NCoP supports integrated natural resource management for sustainable, climate-resilient development in the Mediterranean.
The webinar "Unlocking the Potential of WEFE Nexus Demonstrators: Insights, Innovations and Best Practices" is part of the WEFE4MED Webinar series designed to cover the three key learning priorities of the NCoP; Implementation, Financing and Governance. It will discuss the experiences and lessons learnt from demonstration cases featured in the WEFE4MED Knowledge Hub, emphasizing effective approaches and critical insights for managing the many interdependencies within the WEFE Nexus. Topics to be discussed will include integrated water resource management, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy adoption, and ecosystem conservation in the Mediterranean context. The webinar will include interventions from prominent specialists engaged in PRIMA-funded WEFE Nexus projects as well as regional partners, followed by a moderated discussion and an interactive Q&A session.
The webinar's objectives are to:
• Showcase Successful Case Studies: Presenting demonstrators featured in the WEFE4MED Knowledge Hub within the Mediterranean region, highlighting innovative practices that contribute to improved resource management.
• Identify Challenges and Solutions: Discuss common implementation challenges in WEFE Nexus projects and explore strategies for overcoming them.
• Provide Actionable Recommendations for Scaling Up: Share WEFE Nexus solutions that have the potential for replication and upscaling within and across countries, as well as within and beyond the Mediterranean.
• Facilitate Knowledge Exchange: Create a platform for policymakers, practitioners, researchers and other stakeholders, to share insights and experiences related to best practices on WEFE Nexus application.
