Mr. Joseph Mbinji joins GWP Southern Africa as the project manager for the National Adaptation Planning Project in Zambia.

He is an international development practitioner with over 18 years professional experience working in various sectors including environment and natural resources, land rights, agriculture, governance, and women’s rights at senior management level. He holds a BSc in Natural Resources from University of Zambia, a MSc in International Development and Management from Lund University, Sweden, and a MBA from Lancaster University, UK.

His immediate past portfolio was Project Manager for a USD14million UNDP/GEF funded Government of Zambia project on strengthening management effectiveness of Protected Areas in Zambia.

Mr. Mbinji has previously served as Deputy Country Director for Oxfam GB in Zambia (2015-2018), Director for the Agriculture Consultative Forum (2011-2015), and Programmes Manager for the Zambia Land Alliance (2003-2011), among others.

Mr. Mbinji has also provided independent consulting services to international development agencies, NGOs, and the private sector. He has also served on various boards and councils such as the Governing Council of the International Land Coalition, Board of the Regional Women’s Platform on Land and Water Rights in Southern Africa, and Board of the Indaba Agriculture Policy Research Institute in Zambia, among others.
